Trends Spotted on Day 5 at Amazon India Fashion Week AW15

With the mega fashion extravaganza, slowly inching towards the finishing line, it was the turn of seasoned, innovation experts to showcase their designs at this prestigious forum. Noted Designers Amalraj Sengupta, Ashima –Leena, Sneha Arora, and Shweta Kapoor took to the stage and captivated audience with their ‘out-of-box’ design thinking.

Innovation in prints went one notch higher and was visible in the ground-breaking “Appetite” collection with dresses having monotone colours comprising mainly of greys, blacks and whites coupled with prints ranging from beetroot, cycle and dabba print, pear, cut fruit, raddish, cherry tomato prints being showcased on the ramp.

With such an out-of box approach to design leading designers offered amazing thought leadership and gave fashion aficionados some food for thought and made them rethink their sense of style for the coming season.

Manhole” Collection showcased full length ensembles in plain, white, black and red that are sure to command a premium this season as demand soars in the casual wear segment with more women emerging out of the shadows and demanding haute couture owing to high disposal incomes.

 “Tomorrow’s Tribe” collection emphasized the fact highlighted before that prints, pleats and patchworks of the mesmerizing jamewar variety, kilims, tribal weaves and embellishments will be the ‘in-thing’ this season. Soft, satiny silks and chiffons will also be in demand in the prêt or mass-market segment.

Keeping an eye on the tectonic shifts taking place in the global arena, designers have hinted through their awe-inspiring collections that fabrics like wool, crepe, microply, microdot crepe, lycra net, jersey, neoprene and fur will be in high demand this year. And global buyers and merchandisers have taken note of these subtle clues with caution that might reflect in their purchasing patterns this year.
