Snapchat’s Scorching Pace Of Growth
With millions of dollars going out of the door every month, Snapchat needs to analyze Facebook’s revenue model that has been the most illustrious of all networks.
In the first four years of operation, it had amassed 140 million users and generated $272 million by 2008. Instagram was snapped by Facebook within two years of its launch as Facebook wanted to have a wider footprint in the social search space. Instagram had 180million monthly active users at the time of its stake sale to Facebook. Twitter had 30 million active users and was clocking $45million in revenues at the end of its fourth year.
By comparison Snapchat has 200 million monthly active users at the end of its fourth year, higher than any social network but revenue visibility is still the biggest challenge and it needs to monetize its offerings quickly to propel into the big league.
